Future collaboration - plastic recycling in an African context

Future collaboration - plastic recycling in an African context

  By: Ross Jansen-van Vuuren on Sept. 20, 2018, 7:52 p.m.

Hi everyone,

I am seeking collaborators to work on a project involving the development of greener, simpler and more efficient approaches (from a chemistry and to a somewhat lesser extent, engineering perspective) of plastics.

At this stage, I am mostly interested in finding out: (a) whether there is currently any other research being done and what the focus happens to be on, and (b) if anyone is interested in forming a partnership or collaboration sometime in the future. I am only interested in working with an African institution at this stage.

Many thanks,

Dr. Ross Jansen-van Vuuren.

Dear Ross Jansen-van Vuuren

A very nice research topic.

I am starting to study microplastics effects in biological systems.

Hopefully we can collaborate in the near future.

Thank you.

Hello Dr Ross,

To answer your (a) question: to the best of my knowledge there are currently no research done in this regard. Though you will be able to see some private individuals finding alternative use of plastic wastes, either for local content repackaging or recycling. We are awaiting a grant application response for plastic wastes reuse,

(b) Will you be interested in ACU blue charter for future collaboration?

@Samwel Mchele: It will be nice collaborating with you.
